A Proper Introduction

Hello there companion!

My guess is that you are interested in learning more about the Arctic and the world issues it faces too.

You deserved a proper introduction of who I am and what this site is about. My name is Alexis, but you can call me Alex. Like many, I am just another kid trying to make it in the world. Currently I am college student majoring in Fine Arts and Illustration. My dream is to someday write and illustrate my own stories. Recently I have noticed a common theme popping up in my work related to humans and there impact on the environment.

I was inspired to create this blog after my Environmental Science class talked about joining conservation groups. After looking into different groups I realized that although there were numerous important conservation efforts, I had been especially passionate about one since I was a child. Saving Antarctica. A lofty goal I realize. But not impossible.

Why Antarctica? Doesn't that seem like a narrow topic compared to some of the more immediate environmental issues we a re facing right now? Maybe. Or maybe it can make all the difference.

So what does a college student REALLY know about Antarctica anyways? You may ask. And the answer is not a whole heck of a lot, considering I've never been there (yet.) In part I am doing this to become more aware of what is happening on the Earth, especially in those places we do not see. Now this isn't all gloom and doom I want this blog to be fun! My hope for this blog is that it will help you too in whatever you seek to find out about the Arctic or conservation issues in general. Who knows? Maybe in someway it will even Antarctica's future. A girl can dream, right.

Our world is dying, and it is up to us to do something about it.
